Taylor Achieves The Imp-Possible
The 1975-76 season was the most successful in the history of Lincoln City, under the guidance of a certain Graham Taylor. The man who went on to manage England cut his teeth at Lincoln and the catalyst for the club’s success came against Stoke in a second round tie.
A crowd of 13,472 crammed into Sincil Bank to see Stoke, the 1972 winners, and it finished with the Red Imps winning 2-1 with Alan Harding scoring their first goal and Dennis Booth claiming the winner.
Lincoln went on to win Division Four, setting records along the way and scoring 111 goals in the process.
