Coventry Edge Nine Goal Thriller
This 1990 3rd round tie is regarded as one of the most exciting ties in the history of the competition. Forest were the holders and were looking to win the Cup for the third time in succession while continuing their 22-match unbeaten run in the competition.
Amazingly Coventry were 4-0 up five minutes from half time. Yet Nigel Clough turned the half on its head as he scored an incredible five-minute hat-trick before the half time whistle.
Then Forest scored their fourth and the equalising goal after 10 minutes of the second half through Garry Parker, but Kevin Gallacher’s hat-trick was upstaged by Steve Livingstone’s second goal, the 63rd minute winner.
